May 21st, Indians fall To Tigers

Detroit Tigers vs. Cleveland Indians

Detroit, 5           Cleveland, 1

WP: Scherzer (6-0)
LP: Kluber (3-3)

The Indians were the tough-luck losers last night, even though Corey Kluber tossed six innings and only surrendered three runs, it wasn't enough as Max Scherzer pitched dominantly over the Indians.

Kluber waits and Detroit's Andy Dirks
rounds the bases after a solo shot.
The Indians struck for a run on a Michael Brantley sacrifice fly in the first, and then Max Scherzer proceeded to shut down the next 22 Indians' batters in a row.  Kluber went five scoreless before surrendering a solo shot to Andy Dirks and a 2-run bomb to Miguel Cabrera.  The Indians threatened in the ninth, but Carlos Santana popped out to end the game.

The Indians look for a split tonight against the Tigers.  Ubaldo Jimenez will try and continue his good form against former Cy Young Award winner Justin Verlander.  The Indians are 7-1 this year against former Cy Young Award winners, including a victory over Verlander a couple weeks ago. The Tribe remains 1.5 games ahead in first place over the Tigers. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 tonight at Progressive Field.
