May 30th, Indians split the Ohio rivalry

The Cleveland Indians had that one big inning, with a vast amount of two out hits.  That, along with a stellar pitching perfomance from Scott Kazmir, lead the Tribe to a 7-1 victory of the Reds.

WP: Kazmir (3-2)
LP:  Bailey (3-4)

Both the Indians and Reds bats were quiets until the fourth inning, as both Scott Kazmir and Homer Bailey were pitching tremendously.  Then, on an 0-2 pitch, Michael Brantley singled home a run.  That was with two outs, and it set the tone.  Following Brantley, Yan Gomes singled home a run, followed by Ryan Raburn doubling home a run, along with Michael Bourn.  Jason Kipnis and Asdrubal Cabrera also singled home runs, before the side was finally retired when Nick Swisher flew out to deep center.

The other big story besides the eruptive offense was starting pitcher Scott Kazmir, who tossed seven innings of excellent baseball.  Kazmir tossed seven innings while giving up one run, striking out five and walking one.  Kazmir has had his ups and down this season, but this was definitely one of his higher points.  It would be nice to see this form continue.

Tonight, the Indians open up the weekend home stand with the Tampa Bay Rays.  The Rays and the Indians have the exact same record at 29-24, and Tampa Bay has won five straight.  With the win last night, the Indians, despite a five game losing streak, sit at only 0.5 games back of the Detroit Tigers in the AL Central.
