May 9th, Cleveland completes the 4 game sweep!

Oakland Athletics vs. Cleveland Indians

Cleveland 9         Oakland 2

WP: Kazmir (2-1)
LP: Colon (3-2)

The Indians routed the Athletics and former Indian Bartolo Colon for their first four game sweep since 2010.  The Tribe has won 10 of their last 11.

Jason Kipnis got it all started in the first inning, as he smoked a two run homer of the left field fence.  The Indians never looked back.  Picking up base hit RBI's from Drew Stubbs, Yan Gomes, and Jason Giambi helped significantly, but the long ball once again stepped in.

Jason Kipnis has been red hot as of late
Nick Swisher pummeled his fifth home run of the year and his second in as many days.  Once again, Mark Reynolds had to join in on the party, as he hit his lead leaguing 11th home run of the year 406 feet away.  Mark Reynolds looks extremely impressive at the plate. (Check out a breakdown of his impressive start here.)

Scott Kazmir shut down the Athletics over 6 innings, allowing one earned run, and striking out 10.  In his 95th pitch of the game, Kazmir's fastball was still topping out at 95 mph, and he hit 96 throughout the day.  Kazmir said he feels wonderful and is still very blessesd with this opportunity that Cleveland has given him.  Kazmir is still only 29, remember, and he looked like the two time All star that used to fan and strike out Indians batters while he was with the Tampa Bay Rays and Angels.

Scott Kazmir may have been a huge steal
singing just a minor league deal this
offseason for the Tribe.
The Indians head to Detroit this weekend against their AL Central rivals.  If the Indians can manage to win this series, then don't be surprised to see them on top of the AL central standings by the start of next week. Make sure and check out the Series Preview.
